The Liberty Common Eagles struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Stargate School Eagles had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Liberty Common took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stargate School. While losing is never fun, Liberty Common can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Stargate School is ranked 108th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Richardson, who scored ten points along with five assists. The match was Richardson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Max Frevert was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Liberty Common struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Stargate School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Perkins, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Perkins continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Roark, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Liberty Common and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Stargate School, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Common will be home for the holidays to greet Jefferson Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Jefferson Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. Stargate School will be home for the holidays to greet The Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
