Lone Peak is a perfect 3-0 against Farmington since September of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:00 p.m. Lone Peak is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29.8 points per game this season.
Lone Peak managed to slip by Lehi the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights had to suffer through a 34-6 loss at the hands of the Pioneers. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.
Even if they lost, Lone Peak's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cubby Hoyal, Tate King, and Tagg Zundel, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Farmington strolled past Layton with points to spare two weeks ago, taking the game 26-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phoenix.
Lone Peak better keep an eye on Drew Love. He was instrumental in Farmington's win, rushing for 156 yards and a pair of TDs. Love also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Phoenix are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise.
Farmington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
Farmington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Westin Stewart. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Lone Peak's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4. As for Farmington, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything came up roses for Lone Peak against Farmington when the teams last played back in September, as the team secured a 34-7 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
