On Thursday, Midlothian Heritage came up short against Episcopal and fell 42-34. While losing is never fun, Midlothian Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Episcopal is ranked 50th).
Despite the defeat, Midlothian Heritage had strong showings from Grace Sweeney, who scored nine points, and Ava Batty, who scored nine points. Sweeney scored a full 26.5% of Midlothian Heritage's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Berumen, who scored eight points.
Midlothian Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Episcopal, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Midlothian Heritage will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Nacogdoches at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th. Episcopal and Richardson will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at.
