After a string of five wins, Lakeside's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quitman Bulldogs.

Mckenzie Williams and Payton Futch certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Williams posted 14 points and four steals, while Futch went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and four steals. That was a full 40% of Lakeside's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Quitman, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Lakeside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-49 loss against Harding Academy on the 28th. As for Quitman, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Conway Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
