Two dominant signal callers in Jp Pickles and Tremaine Hughes Jr. are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The North Florida Christian Eagles's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the St. John Paul II Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
With a playoff game on the line, North Florida Christian rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by the Bobcats at home to the tune of 47-7. Considering North Florida Christian has won five matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Pickles, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Joshua Schuchts, who picked up 129 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to North Florida Christian's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Brady Warmack and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. John Paul II beat Maclay 42-37 on Friday. The victory was just what St. John Paul II needed coming off of a 37-13 loss in their prior match.
North Florida Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for St. John Paul II, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.
North Florida Christian came up short against St. John Paul II in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, falling 41-35. Thankfully for North Florida Christian, Makale Shuler (who picked up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
