The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the El Segundo Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Long Beach Poly earned a 5-1 victory over North. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jackrabbits.
Isabella Cisneros spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Janelle Morris was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Holder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, El Segundo never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Palos Verdes 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Sea Kings since March 12, 2019.
The result came thanks to Jacy Lindsay's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, El Segundo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazlene Ramos, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ramos also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
El Segundo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Long Beach Poly now has a winning record of 2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Long Beach Poly hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.3 home runs per game. However, it's not like El Segundo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Long Beach Poly might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from El Segundo when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Will Long Beach Poly have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
