Lely proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 17) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Everglades City Gators. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on three straight.
Star Orosco and Jeeznie Marcelin did most of the damage at the plate: Orosco scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Marcelin scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Orosco continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kai Oliveira was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Lely's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Everglades City, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Looking ahead, Lely will challenge Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Everglades City, they will square off against Coral Shores at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
