The Mercer Island Islanders put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 50-44 W over Liberty. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Mercer Island has scored all season.
Caitlin Monahan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Mercer Island's points. Elianna Weiss was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Mercer Island pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Liberty, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-1.
Mercer Island will take on Ridgeline in a holiday battle at 11:50 a.m. on Monday at. Hopefully Ridgeline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday. Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Auburn at 11:30 a.m. on December 16th. One thing working in Auburn's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
