Football Recap: Kern Valley Falls Short of Boron in the Playoffs

Kern Valley and Boron squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Kern Valley had to settle for second. They fell 26-19 to the Bobcats. The Broncs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kern Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carson Parks, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs, and Jeffrey Clark, who picked up 89 receiving yards. Clark was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 58 yards.

Kern Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Shiloh Galvan and Clark. Another thorn in Boron's side was Daniel Hinkey, who made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Andrew Gartica was his usual excellent self, rushing for 171 yards and three scores on only 14 carries for Boron. That's the most rushing touchdowns Gartica has posted since back in August of 2024.

Kern Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Boron, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4.

Kern Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boron, they will venture away from home to square off against Minarets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests.
