Baseball Recap: Houston Academy Wins Going Away Against Dale County

Houston Academy barely beat Dale County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Warriors on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Ty Morris made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Houston Academy is 3-1 when Morris posts three or more RBI, but 9-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabe Glover, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Houston Academy is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 9-14 otherwise. Harrison Milanowski was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Houston Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Houston Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Dale County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.

Looking ahead, Houston Academy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Providence Christian at 5:00 p.m. Dale County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
