The West Florida Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Choctawhatchee. West Florida has not had much luck with Choctawhatchee recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, West Florida saw an underclassman step up: Amani (AB) Bartholomew dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Bartholomew hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Shania Beeks, who scored eight points along with six assists.
West Florida's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-14. As for Choctawhatchee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Florida won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Pensacola and West Florida are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Choctawhatchee, they will head out on the road to challenge Navarre at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
