Stevens is 1-6 against Conant since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cardinals will take on the Orioles at 4:00 p.m. Stevens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Stevens barely beat Newport the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Tigers on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.
Eric Emanouil was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Emanouil was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Logan Minkler and Carson Beeman did most of the damage at the plate: Minkler got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Beeman went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Minkler has become a key player for Stevens: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Tucker Royce was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Stevens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted an OBP of .480.
Meanwhile, Conant faced Derryfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Orioles wound up with the same score they had in their last game (11-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Stevens now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Conant, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
Stevens suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Conant in their previous matchup back in June of 2025. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
