Clarksville managed to slip by Salem the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Generals lost 10-4 to the Lions on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kylie Raggard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bailey Senior, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southwestern, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Jac-Cen-Del 9-8. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Chloey Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nataley Morrison was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Riley Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Southwestern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Southwestern's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Clarksville, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Clarksville came up short against Southwestern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
