The Togiak Huskies were the 75-44 winner over the Bristol Bay Angels when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Togiak was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to the Angels. The defeat means Togiak is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Bristol Bay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Trefon, who scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Trefon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keilan Wassillie, who scored 18 points.
Togiak's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Bristol Bay, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Togiak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bristol Bay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the T-Jacks and Rookies at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. King Cove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 419 points over their last six matchups.
