Basketball Recap: Tim Matthews Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat King's Ridge Christian

While Cleveland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the King's Ridge Christian Tigers 68-48 on Saturday. Given the Blue Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 109th in Tennessee, while the Tigers are ranked 237th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cleveland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tim Matthews, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Matthews is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Maguire Evans was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Cleveland's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for King's Ridge Christian, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Cleveland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 80-58 loss against Oak Ridge on the 17th. King's Ridge Christian has also already played their next contest, a 56-50 defeat against Lovett on the 20th.
