The Bishop Kelly Knights will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Skyview Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Kelly is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Bishop Kelly is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Vallivue, who was ranked ninth at the time (Bishop Kelly was ranked seventh). The Knights came up short against the Falcons on Tuesday, falling 14-7. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Olivia Watt and Jaynie Burke stepped up to the plate in a big way. Watt went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Burke went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kingsley Shea, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Skyview strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Caldwell a 10-0 shutout. Give the Hawks' hitters some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest runs they've scored all season.
Skyview also got a great performance from Sydney Albright as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Albright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Khloe Howard was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Chambers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Skyview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Skyview's record is now 7-0. As for Bishop Kelly, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Bishop Kelly hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bishop Kelly was able to grind out a solid victory over Skyview when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 10-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
