James Island gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 17-9 margin over the Goose Creek Gators. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Trojans have posted since April 12, 2024.
Mary Davis Hancock made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Rachel Manchester was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Amber Rouse was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
James Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goose Creek only posted an OBP of .343.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games.
