Baldwin Park moved up to 607 from 636 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Valle Vista. The Braves were able to move up by beating Covina 37-34.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Pomona beat Wilson 53-10. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Pearnell Smalley IV was a force in the backfield as the Colts fell to Baldwin Park.
Michael Moran threw for 391 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 28-42 with 1 interception.
Raymen Baraza was the best wideout in the league this week as Chris Williams' team bested Covina. Baraza tallied 9 receptions for 164 yards. Jayson Miller helped Baldwin Park's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 86 yards.
The Braves' Moran and Miller led Valle Vista in both passing and receiving yards. 5-9 quarterback Moran has thrown for 2,107 yards this season, while Miller has 40 catches for 747 yards. Smalley IV from Joe Brown's team leads the league in rushing with 915 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Pomona takes on second place Baldwin Park. Last week, Pomona bested the Wildcats, while Baldwin Park topped the Colts.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Braves' Miller goes up against Aaron Jamieson's team's Desmond Bobo.
Covina's Smalley IV is a mere 85 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 130 carries Smalley IV has put up 915 yards this year.
Next week's game between Baldwin Park and the Red Devils will feature a good passing match up as Moran will test his arm against Bobo's defensive ability.
San Dimas took down the Nobles 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Josh Avila threw for 109 yards and ran for 83 yards during the win.
