2A Colorado recap September 4, 2013
Denver West's Brandon Martinez recorded the longest rushing play in 2A Colorado this season in his game against Denver North last week. Martinez ran for 69 yards on the play and finished with 96 on the day as his team topped the Vikings.
Ridge View Academy scaled the state rankings by moving to 127 from 158 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams were able to make move up by besting Moffat County 21-6.
Bennett's dynamic duo of Seth Rodriquez and Tanner Wineland proved tough for Strasburg to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rodriquez threw for 70 yards and Wineland had 35 yards receiving. Zane Alsdorf helped Bennett's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 22 yards.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Rodriquez and Wineland proved to be unstoppable against the Indians, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Martinez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Denver West beat Denver North.
Josh Wilson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Manual lost to Manitou Springs. The 5-foot-11 senior.
Martinez was the most successful running back in the league this week. Damien Nielsen also contributed to the rushing game with 12 yards on the ground.
Rodriquez put up the best numbers in passing as Bennett lost to Strasburg.
Wineland was the best receiver in 2A Colorado this week as Rick Jacoby's team lost to Jeff Giger's team.
The Tigers' Rodriquez and Wineland have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Rodriquez has thrown for 70 yards this season, while Wineland has 4 catches for 42 yards. Elijah Huff from the Thunderbolts leads the league in rushing with 289 yards.
Leon Garcia's team was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to second in the league. The Cowboys vanquished Al Rodriguez's team 10-6 earlier in the week.
