Baseball Recap: Ellet Wins Going Away Against East

Ellet won the last time they faced East and things went their way on Monday too. The Orangemen were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Dragons. The Orangemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Josh Sims spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Keaton McKeel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Ellet's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Dowling, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Ellet's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for East, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Ellet will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
