The Frederick Golden Eagles will challenge the Niwot Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Frederick has three straight victories, Niwot has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Frederick's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Silver Creek as they made off with an 8-0 win. Considering the Golden Eagles have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Elayna Fisher's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Stromberg, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brealea Stendel, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Frederick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Niwot couldn't beat Broomfield on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Cougars fell 8-4 to the Eagles.
Payton Stokes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Niwot's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Frederick, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Niwot's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Frederick has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Niwot, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Frederick's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
Frederick took their win against Niwot in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 13-4 score. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
