Basketball Recap: Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Anyiah Crump and Kendall Hawkins

After flying high against Classical Magnet last Thursday, Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy came back down to earth. The Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Phoenix took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Metropolitan Learning Center Dragons on Friday. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Kendall Hawkins and Anyiah Crump certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hawkins dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Crump posted 13 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Hawkins is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game.

Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Metropolitan Learning Center, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-1.

Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy will take on Cheney Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Metropolitan Learning Center, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] at 4:45 p.m. on February 5th.
