After three games on the road, Douglas is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Uxbridge Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Douglas earned a 59-46 victory over Oxford.
Douglas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Adam Dunphy out in front who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dunphy has scored at least 25% of Douglas' points. Colton Howard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Uxbridge had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They managed a 47-42 victory over Sutton on Wednesday. The win was just what Uxbridge needed coming off of a 65-38 loss in their prior game.
Uxbridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Mccusker, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Spencer, who scored nine points.
Douglas now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Uxbridge, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Douglas have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. However, it's not like Uxbridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Douglas came up short against Uxbridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 69-65. Thankfully for Douglas, Drew Gniadek (who scored 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
