The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Midway 52-9 at home. The win was familiar territory for Fairmont who now have eight in a row.
Fairmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Niah Smith, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten assists, and 11 steals. Smith is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miah Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Midway struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Fairmont's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Midway, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairmont will challenge St. Pauls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Pauls knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Fairmont likes a good challenge. As for Midway, they will head out on the road to square off against West Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midway is facing West Bladen at the right time seeing as West Bladen is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
