2A - North recap Oct. 16, 2012
Manti extended the longest winning streak in 2A - North this week by beating Millard, 24-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Templars.
South Summit took down Gunnison Valley 69-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Connor Aste put up the best numbers through the air as Manti bested the Eagles. He finished with seven completions for 72 yards and one touchdown. Aste's favorite target this week was Austin Jackson, who caught two passes for 25 yards.
Jeffrey Robison was the best wideout in the league this week as Millard fell to Cole Meacham's team. Robison racked up two receptions for 44 yards. Jesse Rhodes helped Millard's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.
Jeremy Aleman was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 93 yards on 18 carries as Marshall sheriff's team lost to the Templars. Teammate Rhodes added to the ground attack by rushing for 43 yards.
Tristan Olsen made the biggest impact on defense this week as Manti beat the Eagles. The 5-foot-11 junior recorded two fumbles.
6-foot-1 quarterback Aste of the Templars is the league leader in passing yards this season with 956. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Millard's Rhodes has rushed for 1359 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lafe Christensen. The Gunnison Valley star has 28 catches for 597 yards.
The Wildcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 69 points on the Bulldogs.
