Othello had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-2 to make it six. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the River View Panthers. While the Huskies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 4-0 in the first period.
Alexa Prochet spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Bethany Zamora and Alizay Pruneda did some serious damage despite the final result: Zamora went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Pruneda went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jena DeLeon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for River View, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The ten-run effort marked their lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
On River View's side, Bryanna Denbow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Denbow was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Courtney Morris was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Reyna Caballero, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Othello will be playing at home against Kennewick at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for River View, they will take on Kiona-Benton at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
