Chatham Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabe McKoy out in front who posted 11 points along with eight assists and six steals. Those eight assists gave McKoy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan LaVelle, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds.
McKoy wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Chatham Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Woods Charter had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They breezed by the Jaguars to the tune of 55-12. With the Wolves ahead 27-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Woods Charter found their leader in sophomore Alden Phelps, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Haygood, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and five boards.
Chatham Charter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 45.7 points. As for Woods Charter, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chatham Charter has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Woods Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
