The Wyoming Area Warriors will square off against the Berwick Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Berwick will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Wyoming Area extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Warriors never let MMI Preparatory School get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Warriors' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matches.
Arianna Gaylord made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Marissa Giardina was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Josie Kivak, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Wyoming Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Berwick, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Greater Nanticoke Area on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.
Like Wyoming Area, Berwick also got a great game from a two-way player: Makayla Brown. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Welsh, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ashlyn Klahold was another key player, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4.
Wyoming Area's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Berwick's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wyoming Area has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Berwick, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Wyoming Area's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Wyoming Area couldn't quite get it done against Berwick when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
