Goddard is 9-1 against Northwest since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lions will face off against the Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Goddard lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Andover, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Lions blew past the Trojans 9-2 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Lions have posted against the Trojans since April 14, 2022.
Taylor Cape was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Kohlhorst, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northwest can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Heights.
Will Beckmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Tryston Garrison and JJ Grove did most of the damage at the plate: Garrison got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI, while Grove earned two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave Grove a new career-high.
Northwest's record is now 11-9. As for Goddard, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-15.
Goddard came out on top in a nail-biter against Northwest when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
