The Hampton Hornets pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Lovett on the road by a decisive 75-56 margin. Hampton has not had much luck with Lovett recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Lovett found their leader in underclassman Kingston Whitty, who scored 20 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Cannon, who scored 17 points.
Hampton dropped their record down to 6-18 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Lovett, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.
Hampton will head out on the road to challenge Lovett at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hampton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Lovett is ranked 158th). As for Lovett, they will be playing at home against Hampton at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Lovett focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
