Even though Donna Klein Jewish Academy has not done well against Grandview Prep recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Donna Klein Jewish Academy came out on top against Grandview Prep by a score of 67-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mia Meldung continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 38 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sadye Eichman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
David Posnack Jewish Day suffered their biggest loss since November 20, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 55-22 loss at the hands of Pine Crest. While losing is never fun, David Posnack Jewish Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Pine Crest is ranked 128th).
Despite the defeat, David Posnack Jewish Day saw an underclassman step up: Emma Azafrani scored seven points along with two steals.
Donna Klein Jewish Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for David Posnack Jewish Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.
Monday's contest will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Meldung and Sophia Klein. Meldung has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 19.1 points and 2.5 rebounds. For her part, Klein has averaged 14.5 points, 2.9 steals, and 4.5 rebounds.
Donna Klein Jewish Academy won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, slipping by David Posnack Jewish Day 1-0.
