Basketball Game Preview: Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals vs. Hobbton Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals challenge the Hobbton Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday... Southeastern HomeSchool knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Hobbton likes a good challenge.

Southeastern HomeSchool is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing DASH: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Southeastern HomeSchool blew DASH out of the water with an 86-39 final score. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 25 points or more this season.

Southeastern HomeSchool's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Blake Batts, who went 12 for 24 on his way to 32 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, and Max Brutus, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. Batts' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Griffin, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Hobbton came up short against Midway on Friday and fell 55-45. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while the Raiders are ranked 139th).

Southeastern HomeSchool pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Hobbton, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Southeastern HomeSchool strolled past Hobbton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-29. Does Southeastern HomeSchool have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hobbton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
