After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Immanuel Christian, the Van Horn Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 73-12 win over Big Bend. That 61 points margin sets a new team best for Van Horn this season.
Gio Corralez was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Anchondo, who scored 17 points.
Van Horn pushed their record up to 16-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Big Bend, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Horn will take on Sierra Blanca at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Bend will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dell City at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th.
