Falkner is 1-9 against Pine Grove since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falkner Eagles will host the Pine Grove Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Falkner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Falkner turned things around against Hickory Flat two weeks ago. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rebels a 15-0 shutout.
Taylor Garner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She also tossed three walks, marking her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Falkner got a massive performance out of Mia McDaniel, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, McDaniel posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Anna Rucker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Falkner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hickory Flat only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Pine Grove came up short against Wheeler on Monday, falling 14-5. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Anaston Christian made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Falkner picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Pine Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Falkner's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Falkner has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pine Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Falkner continue to outrun the ball?
Falkner might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Pine Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Falkner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
