Baseball Recap: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Takes a Loss

St. Ignatius College Preparatory fell victim to Junipero Serra and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Padres by a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Padres this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 last Saturday.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory got a good showing from FInn Demuth, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Demuth has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4-2. As for Junipero Serra, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Ignatius College Preparatory will head out to face off against Bellarmine College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bells' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Junipero Serra, they will venture away from home to square off against Archbishop Mitty at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Padres are facing the Monarchs at the right time seeing as the Monarchs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
