The Geibel Catholic Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Aquinas Academy Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Geibel Catholic is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Geibel Catholic's 18-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against Carmichaels on Friday, falling 72-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gary Tarbuk, who scored 14 points. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Tommy Kolencik was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Aquinas Academy pushed their score all the way to 80 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Monessen 84-80. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (76), Aquinas Academy still had to take the loss.
Geibel Catholic bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Aquinas Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Geibel Catholic couldn't quite finish off Aquinas Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 81-79.
