Wellsboro is 3-0 against South Williamsport since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Wellsboro Hornets will finish 2023 at home by hosting the South Williamsport Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Wellsboro is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Williamsport in Pennsylvania (Wellsboro is ranked 160th, while South Williamsport is ranked 547th).
Last Friday, the stars were shining brightly for Wellsboro in a 46-32 victory over Athens. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wellsboro.
Meanwhile, South Williamsport might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Northumberland Christian an easy 54-29 victory.
Despite their defeat, South Williamsport saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Radley Knapp, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Baier, who scored six points along with three steals.
Wellsboro now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Williamsport, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Wellsboro against South Williamsport in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 as the team secured a 70-31 win. Will Wellsboro repeat their success, or does South Williamsport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
