After two games on the road, South Whidbey is heading back home. They will take on The Granite Falls Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Whidbey will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but South Whidbey had to settle for a 32-29 defeat against Sultan.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Granite Falls' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 52-28 defeat at the hands of King's. The contest was a close 24-21 at the break, but unfortunately for Granite Falls it sure didn't stay that way.
Defeat or not, Granite Falls got some senior leadership from Kaden Laplaunt who threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns and Johnathan Roberts who picked up 80 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
South Whidbey's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 King's and 6-2 Life Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Granite Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Everything went South Whidbey's way against Granite Falls in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as South Whidbey made off with a 36-12 victory. Does South Whidbey have another victory up their sleeve, or will Granite Falls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
