Softball Recap: Muir Wins Going Away Against Oxford Academy

On Tuesday, the Muir Mustangs got the win against the Oxford Academy Patriots by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Muir let Abigail (Abi) Milton and Alyssa Perez run wild. Milton went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Perez scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI Milton has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ariel (Shorty) Flores, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Muir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oxford Academy only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory made it two in a row for Muir and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oxford Academy, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

Muir has already played their next match, a 9-1 win against Eagle Rock on the 7th. As for Oxford Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-0 victory against Samueli Academy on the 12th.
