After flying high against Doane Academy on Tuesday, the Burlington Township Falcons came back down to earth. Burlington Township fell to Trenton Catholic Academy 62-57. The matchup was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Burlington Township was outscored by Trenton Catholic Academy in the second.
Burlington Township's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isiah N'diaye, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Aaron Ferguson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Burlington Township has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Trenton Catholic Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlington Township won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northern Burlington at 5:15 p.m. on January 5th. Northern Burlington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Burlington Township is ranked 146th). As for Trenton Catholic Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Bordentown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
