Pinecrest is 3-0 against Apex Friendship since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Pinecrest Patriots the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Apex Friendship Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on January 15th. Pinecrest will be strutting in after a victory while Apex Friendship will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Lee County scored an imposing 58 points on Wednesday, Pinecrest still came out on top. Pinecrest managed a 62-58 victory over Lee County. Given Pinecrest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Lee County is ranked 428th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinecrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Melton, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Azir Gillespie, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Apex Friendship's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 68-52 bruising from Panther Creek.
Pinecrest's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Apex Friendship, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
