May River has gone 9-1 against Beaufort recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. May River will be playing in front of their home fans against Beaufort at 7:00 p.m. May River knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Beaufort likes a good challenge.
May River's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Bluffton as May River made off with an 18-0 win. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 12 runs or more this season.
Olivia Nagel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Mckayla Landry and Allie Belcher did most of the damage at the plate: Landry went 1-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Belcher went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Belcher has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Murdaugh, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
May River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Beaufort's offense. They lost 10-0 to West Ashley on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
May River pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Beaufort, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Beaufort's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: May River has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .542. It's a different story for Beaufort, though, as they've only averaged .336. Will they be able to contain May River's hitters?
May River beat Beaufort 7-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will May River repeat their success, or does Beaufort has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
