COLUMBIANA, Ala. - Leading by 49 points entering the fourth quarter didn't stop
Homewood (Ala.) from scoring, as it added 14 points in the final quarter on the way to a 69-6 victory over Shelby County (Columbiana, Ala.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Luke Porter to
Devonte Wallace in the first quarter, the Patriots led 42-6 at the half.
Homewood expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Justin Hardy.
With the win the Patriots extended their winning streak to seven games. Homewood defeated the Aggies 49-10 last week.
HHS's standout player in the win was Hardy. The senior ran for three touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 17 touchdowns on the season.
The Wildcats' lone touchdown came on a pass in the first quarter.
The Patriots went into the matchup giving up only 13.6 points per game.
In a 5A Region 4 game next week Shelby County (1-7) takes on Sylacauga, and Homewood (7-1) will go up against Talladega also in a 5A Region 4 game.
