The Knightstown Panthers were the 45-41 winner over the Winchester Community Golden Falcons when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Knightstown fell 56-45 to Winchester Community on Saturday. Knightstown's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Roberson, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 37.8% of Knightstown's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Palmer Newkirk was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.
Knightstown has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Winchester Community, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knightstown will take on Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rushville is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Winchester Community, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Yorktown's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
