Davis is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Murray is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Davis Darts will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Murray Spartans at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Davis has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Olympus on Tuesday as Davis made off with a 66-42 victory. Davis' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Davis had a senior duo take command as Kendra Kitchen dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds and Kate Richards scored 20 points along with five assists. Kitchen set a new season high mark in blocks with five. Kate Willard was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Murray made off with a 36-35 win over Woods Cross. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Murray has scored all year.
Charlotte Scherbel was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Davis' victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Murray, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Davis have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.6 threes per game. However, it's not like Murray struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.8 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Davis skirted past Murray 50-47 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Murray's Iyana Beh, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Davis to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
