Baseball Recap: Spaulding Victorious

Spaulding posted their closest victory since April 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past the Kennett Eagles 7-5.

Owen Nesbitt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Nesbitt was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Nesbitt is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

In other pitching news, Trevor Cormier looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Spaulding let Bryce Bushway and Greyson Holmes run wild. Bushway scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Holmes scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Colby Lambert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Spaulding now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kennett, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Spaulding will be playing in front of their home fans against Massabesic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kennett, they will head out to square off against Laconia at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
