Elite Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Ladainian Brooks and Kyler Theophile. Brooks scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Theophile scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Chin, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Somerset Academy was led to victory by Jahlon Blain and Anthony Henderson. Blain scored 17 points, while Henderson scored 17 points along with four steals. Blain hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Johnathan Point du jour was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds.
Elite Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Somerset Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Elite Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mater Academy Charter at 6:30 p.m. on January 20th. Mater Academy Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Elite Academy is ranked 134th). Somerset Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chaminade-Madonna at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Chaminade-Madonna is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
