The Katella Knights lost against the Workman Lobos back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Katella fell 57-48 to Workman. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Katella in their matchups with Workman: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Katella had strong showings from Joseph Damian, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds, and Dillon Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Curtis scored a full 37.5% of Katella's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Aikins, who scored 8 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Aaron Hernandez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Workman, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 16 steals. The matchup was Hernandez's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Luis Saenz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Katella has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Workman, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Katella will take on Pacifica at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Pacifica presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Katella in California (Pacifica is ranked 352nd, while Katella is ranked 919th). As for Workman, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Norwalk at 6:30 p.m. on December 8th.
