They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Scott 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Southeast of Saline has posted yet this season.
Southeast of Saline found their leader in underclassman Gannon Jacobson, who scored 24 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jacobson has scored all season. Owen Bailey was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Scott still got an impressive performance from Jackson Rumford, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Rumford is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage Stoecklein, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
The win got Southeast of Saline back to even at 5-5. As for Scott, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.
Southeast of Saline and Republic County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Republic County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
