On Friday, the Erie Tigers faced the Horizon Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Erie took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Horizon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Erie has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Erie still got an impressive performance from Maddie Hartel, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria Ridenour, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Horizon can attribute much of their success to Madyn Kassatly, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kassatly has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Schumann, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Erie and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Horizon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Erie will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Range at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mountain Range focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Horizon, they will head out on the road to challenge Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brighton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
